ALL ABOUT BIRDS

Ornithology is the study of birds. A scientist who studies birds is called an ornithologist.

Birds are warm-blooded vertebrate animals that have wings, feathers, a beak, no teeth a skeleton in which many bones are fused together or are absent, and an extremely efficient,, one-way breathing system. Flying birds have strong, hollow bones and powerful flight muscles.

Most birds can fly. Birds have a very strong heart and an efficient way of breathing - these are necessary for birds to fly. Birds also use a lot of energy while flying and need to eat a lot of food to power their flight.

Not all flying animals are birds; and not all birds can fly. The ability to fly has developed independently many times throughout the history of the Earth. Bats (flying mammals), pterosaurs (flying reptiles from the time of the dinosaurs), and flying insects are not birds.

اهمیت فراگیری اصطلاحات

اصطلاحات (idioms) کلمات و عبارات ثابتی هستند کـه یـا از لحاظ گرامری غیرعادی هستند (مثل �Long time, no see!� و یا از این جهت که دارای معنی‌ای هستند که نمی‌تواند از معانی کلمات تشکیل دهنده آن استخراج شود (مانند: It's raining cats and dogs!).

هر زبانی دارای اصطلاحات خاص خودش می‌باشد و اغلب فراگیری آنها برای زبان‌آموزها دشوار می‌باشد.

مثال:

     معنی تحت اللفظی (نه یک اصطلاح):

- She broke the ice with a small hammer and dropped it into the blender.

- او با کمک یک چکش کوچک یخ را شکست و آن را داخل دستگاه مخلوط کن انداخت.

     معنی اصطلاحی (یک اصطلاح):

- Before the conference began, the speaker broke the ice with a joke.

- قبل از آغاز کنفرانس، گوینده با یک لطیفه کارش را شروع کرد.

همانطور که می‌بینید، این عبارت (to break the ice) دو معنی متفاوت دارد که معنی تحت‌اللفظی آن �شکستن یخ� و معنی اصطلاحی آن �کاری را آغاز کردن� می‌باشد.

Kusudama Tutorial part 1

The Japanese kusudama is a paper ball made out of multiple identical origami shapes glued together. They were traditionally used as a  ball for incense or potpourri but now we see them more for decoration or as a gift.
